Private Pilot Requirements

Must be at least 17 years of age (can take written knowledge exam at 15, solo at 16 and receive certificate at 17)

• Proficiency in english writing, reading, and speaking

• Obtain a 3rd class medical certificate

• Log 40 hours minimum of flight time (10 hours minimum of solo time) 

• Most students need between 65-75 hours of flight time before they are ready

• Pass a FAA written exam on regulations and procedures

• Pass a practical test (includes oral exam and flying test)
